Anneliese and Andrew Pakes, Labour’s parliamentary candidate for Milton Keynes South, visited the Lohmann Industries site in Milton Keynes.
During the visit they met representatives of Lohmann and EEF, an organisation which supports industries and engineering, both in the UK and across Europe.
EEF provides both comprehensive support and training for a range of engineering and manufacturing firms, including Lohmann Industries, as well as championing the UK’s manufacturing industries across Europe. Lohmann Industries is a leading manufacturer of adhesive products, serving, among others, the automotive, electrical and construction sectors, and operates globally.
Anneliese said: “I was really pleased to be able to be able to talk to employees of Lohmann and have a tour of their facilities. International firms like Lohmann play a critical part in the community, providing much-needed jobs and growth. We need to do more to make sure that the UK is an attractive place for manufacturing, so that more home-grown and global companies - like Lohmann - put down strong roots in the South East.”
Andrew joined Anneliese in calling for greater support for engineering and manufacturing industries, saying: “Milton Keynes is a great place to do business and we need to be doing more to attract world class engineering companies like Lohmann to the city. Despite the economy beginning to recover, we need to ensure more diversity in the types of businesses coming to Milton Keynes with more engineering, high-skilled jobs and better apprenticeships for young people.”
