Anneliese joins Chuka Umunna and Victoria Groulef, Labour’s candidate for Reading West, to launch of Labour’s Better Plan for Britain’s Prosperity.
Labour’s economic plan details a different approach to creating prosperity, not relying on a few but boosting productivity across Britain's firms and workforce. This plan includes supporting working families by reforming our economy so it produces a more inclusive and successful society. The slow recovery, stagnant living standards and stubbornly high deficit of recent years which have been caused by the coalition government’s poor choices show that we need to build a more productive, higher skill, higher wage economy.
Anneliese said: “It was fantastic to join Chuka and Victoria to launch our economic plan for the South East. Since I was elected last summer, I’ve met with representatives of businesses across the South East, and it’s clear that the coalition’s austerity measures are hurting businesses and damaging enterprise. Labour has ambitious plans to create a prosperous society which benefits the many, not the few.”
Victoria Groulef said: “Labour’s plan will deliver a modern industrial strategy for businesses and people in Reading West to succeed together. It’s about cutting improving training and apprenticeships, including guaranteeing every school leaver that gets the right grades a high quality apprenticeship and handing more economic power to every part of the UK with £30 billion of devolved funding. Above all it acknowledges what is working well and improving it so that irrespective of who is in power we work together to ensure that we get the very best for our area.”
