Ban on animal testing for cosmetics

One of the EU's biggest achievements to strengthen animal welfare legislation was the Cosmetics Regulation which banned the testing of finished cosmetics on animals in 2004 and cosmetic ingredients in 2009. As a Labour MEP I completely support this ban and will fight against any effort to undermine this progress.

After allegations were raised that the European Chemicals Agency has not been applying provisions which ban the testing of cosmetics on animals correctly, I together with several other Labour MEPs acted immediately and wrote to the European Commission (here) to demand that the ethical and moral values enshrined in the Cosmetics Regulation are upheld.
