Eurovision winner Conchita Wurst sang in front of the parliament to send a message of non-discrimination, tolerance and respect for all people.

The event was organised by cross-party MEPs to help promote the idea of “love without fear” and support the EU Roadmap against homophobia and sexual discrimination.

Anneliese Dodds MEP, who is a member of the European Parliament's Intergroup on LGBT rights, said: “I want to congratulate the organisers of this fantastic event. It was great to see so many people queuing to see Conchita and join in the celebrations, and I was disappointed that I sadly wasn’t able to meet her myself.

“It is a sad fact that even in 2014 the fight for full LGBT equality goes on. As a member of the parliament’s intergroup on LGBT rights I am absolutely determined to do everything I can to help protect the rights of our LGBT community right across Europe.”
