Anneliese today visited the National Air Traffic Services (NATS) centre in Swanwick to meet NATS employees and tour their facilities.
NATS is the main air navigation service provider in the UK. It provides en-route air traffic control services to flights within the UK Flight Information Regions and the Shanwick Oceanic Control Area, and provides air traffic control services to fifteen UK airports.
Anneliese was joined by Lucy Anderson MEP, Labour's transport spokesperson in the European Parliament, to learn about the work undertaken by NATS both here in the South East and throughout the UK. Anneliese and Lucy met with NATS managers and employees, and toured their air traffic control centre.
Anneliese also used this opportunity to raise concerns which have been put to her about the recent loss of NATS' contract at Gatwick airport; Anneliese continues to be in close contact with NATS management and employees on this issue.
